Work, work, work. That’s all I’m good for. I had a rare two days off in a row and spent them catching up on chores around the house. I spent the day doing yard work on Wednesday and then cleaning the lanai on Thursday. My neck and shoulders are sore but it feels good. Plus I’m sure Wife will show her appreciation.!
car covers

Does anyone out there use car covers? I live in a neighborhood that is still being built so there is still a lot of dust and stuff. Plus, I keep my car in the driveway, as half our garage is filled with bikes and a portable basketball goal that our homeowners association does not allow us to keep outside permanently. I wonder if they are a pain in the rear to take on and off and worth the bother of using. I found a website that specializes in car covers, called carcoverguys.com. They have pretty good prices and the site is easy to use. I found a car cover to fit my car, but can not decide if I want to bother with one.
While I was looking at their site, I saw they also have car cover bras, which fit across the front of the car. I have often considered installing one of these on my car to save it from bugs. Living in Florida, we have these bugs we call love bugs. Twice a year, May and October is love bug season. These bugs are soft and do not bite or sting. But what they do is fly in swarms and splatter on your car. Each season lasts two to three weeks, and your car just gets creamed with the bugs. Usually the front of the hood and the grill of the car, as well as the windshield are the parts that take the brunt of the splatters. I know a car bra would help eliminate the splatters on the paint and the pain in the rear of getting it off my car’s paint!

A week ago it was thirty degrees, and cold. A damp, bone chilling cold. The heat was definitely on in our house. Fast forward a week. Monday night I turned the a/c on because it was so friggin muggy! It was a nice change…I think we always sleep better when it’s cooler in the house, and getting the humidity out of the house made a big difference.
secure my home

I wanted to put in a security system when we moved in last year, but never got around to it. It’s not like we have a lot of expensive stuff - I’m more concerned with keeping my family safe and secure, than making sure my stuff doesn’t get ripped off. We live in a gated community, but I know that can’t keep everyone out. It only makes it 1% harder to get in or out.
I saw a security system in a store recently that looked pretty easy to set up and install. A good home security system doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg. What I am most concerned about is the dogs. A lot of units have a motion detector, and the dogs are home all day and could set that off. I found out that the nicer units, like this home security system is made to prevent pets from setting it off by accident. Good to know - I don’t want my neighbors bent because my 100+ decibel siren was going off all day while I was at work! The system is affordable too, at only $200.
not a handy hubby

I will admit, I am not the most handy guy ever. I can hang pictures and shelves and fix things, but I know better than to tackle large projects. We had a water softener loop and drain put in when we built this house so that we could add our own water softener when the time was right, and I don’t think that’s a job I will try to handle on my own. But, where do you find a good handyman? We’re new in the area, and so are all of our neighbors, so we don’t have people to ask for references. We’ve tried a home improvement service, but they were incredibly high pressure. Now you can find
local remodeling contractors without having your info sold to others, and without high pressure sales. With AATH you PICK the contractors you want to contact you, rather than the other way around. You can review each contactor or business, and then if you like what you see, you submit your request. Only the companies you choose can contact you. Sounds a lot better than picking a name of a business card in the Home Depot!
lofty goals

Wife and I have been out looking at new furniture for the kids room. I would like to have most of their rooms replaced by next year. Something we have considered for my son is a loft bed, you know it is like a bunk bed up top with a desk and stuff under the bed. We have been looking at a loft bed as a space saving option in his room. He has the largest room of the kids, because his toys (boy stuff) takes up the most room.
curb appeal

We are looking at some landscaping options and some things to give the new house some more curb appeal. Something you see a lot of in Florida is an address plaque. You know, your house number painted on the curb or mounted plaque style on your house. It’s supposed to make your house number easier to identify and look good in the process. Not sure if we are going that route, but I am looking to see if the neighbors in this new neighborhood are doing it.
